The end of the month is here! I'm not done with the inklings yet, however. Here's Oliver, the younger brother of Laurel (a future base transfer). His style is inspired by ouji-kei fashion, a boyish alternative to lolita fashion. While a girl's style, it's not like you could tell him not to wear it.... Oliver is best friends with Kikuo (ouji and wa-ouji... get it) and is the extrovert of the two!

An inkling whose design has changed quite a bit, Hera is my (ahem) menhera-inspired inkling. Originally, she took on the newer trend of having blood splatters on her clothes, but when looking at references I went with something a bit cleaner. Originally using the hime hairstyle, I switched her to the short style for diversity, but I think I'll change her back to the hime style with maybe a few edits to keep her distinct. I'm also not sure about her current appearance- while true to original menhera fashion, I do like the mix-up modern trends introduced. We'll have to see what her next off-base appearance will look like.

Another fashionable inkling joins the fray! Probably the one who might not represent his style as well, Viktor is based off of visual kei. He likely needs a lot more makeup on his face to reflect it a lot more. Anywho, I used a mish-mash of references to create his outfit, while attempting to maintain a unique, easy-to-parse appearance. I'll likely look for a VK-pro when it comes to drawing him off-base.

Today's inkling of the day- Blair! Blair got one heck of a glow-up, getting a spiffy newly-designed dress to go with her transfer onto the base. Inspired by gothic lolita fashion, I used some older images for reference, so she's a bit plain on the patterning front. I think the ruffles make up for that.

Today, I've added Kikuo onto the base! Inspired by wa-ouji fashion, wa-ouji isn't really all that popular, and is pretty niche... so he's unique on that front, especially since there's so little reference material. The meekest of the lot, he clings onto Oliver (a future entry onto the base), and spends a lot of time with his grandparents. Little info drop for you.

Today I worked on two things- the beginning of a slew of drawings on my inkling base, and a user's fancharacter from Cookie Run! Morrigan is a character I made in 2017, part of a group of fashion-based inkling characters. I've never drawn references for them, so decided to make some quick and easy ones with the base. I plan to get all of them onto it! The Cookie Run character was for an art trade for a squid design adopt that I really liked and wanted to pair with my other holiday-themed squid design. I'd like to make inkling versions of them in the future.

I made a base for myself to use to create adoptable designs earlier in the month. I was enjoying it, since I love inklings and being able to make inklings for others meant more inklings in the world. Today I decided to use the base to make a new reference for myself, as the last one was from a while ago and I wanted to liven my appearance up with some new hair clips. Pretty gray, isn't it?

Still feeling the pains of having lost family, especially my grandmother, I drew a somber Maria (who, by the way, shares a name with her). In a sort of romanticized fashion, I imagine that as a last resort, Maria prayed to whatever Chan-equivalent God there was for some happiness in her life. This would precede her meeting with Anna, of course, where things begin to change for the better.

I wrapped up this drawing I had open in MSPaint today. Despite the lingering feeling I had this done earlier, I do believe I chipped at it during a depressed stupor. Anyhow, it was fun (if tedious) to do something a little different, "painting" with the marker brush and attempting to carve out the details. Some cool dragons, aren't they?

I had an idea in the shower- a sort of chanting. It's a depressing topic, but the feeling of being left behind lingers. I drew how I felt in the form of happy little flowers.

Today I felt a rather blue mood. Striking reds and yellows, I sure do love my primary colors.... I drew some Chans, like delicate flowers, and my Aberration pair, Hellspire. Afterwards I went ahead and made the first proper piece of the year, a chibi of my Sandsurge Sataniel. Doesn't he look cute? Although I realized afterwards that the tongues on the other side of the head are misplaced compared to the ones closest to the viewer.

Happy 2025! I've had a very good Night of the Nocturne, and gotten myself quite a few new fancy dragons for my lair. I decided to doodle my newest completed Ancient (Sataniel, a name I took from Vargskelethor) in MSPaint. Probably not the best place to suddenly start painting in, since he ended up quite chunky. Whoops.
